Optimo IoT Photovoltaic & ESS kit
Optimo IoT Photovoltaic & ESS kit: a complete solution for monitoring photovoltaic plants and battery storage that lets you track your plant’s generation and your energy loads
STEP1 Installing the AL300 gateway
An AL300 gateway is installed for each photovoltaic plant and communicates with the inverters over the Modbus protocol, compliant with the SunSpec specification, letting you monitor every operating parameter of the plant, modulate generation and manage the electrical loads

STEP2 Monitoring the data on dashboards
The data collected by the AL300 is monitored in real time on the Optimo IoT platform, either through the offline local display interface or using our cloud service for remote monitoring, analysis and management of the plant
The AL300 gateway can also read electricity meters for monitoring electrical loads, and manage those loads through its onboard I/O and Modbus expansion modules
With Optimo IoT Photovoltaic & BESS kit you can
- Monitor the generation of the PV plant
- Monitor the string voltages and currents
- Manage the power delivered by the inverter
- Manage the electrical loads of the plant
- Monitor the state of charge of the batteries
- Manage the charge and discharge limits of the batteries
- Monitor and manage all your photovoltaic assets from a single interface

System configuration
The application covers remote monitoring and control of a photovoltaic plant made up of two different inverters with a Modbus communication interface. Everything is managed through the QE.GW master electrical panel, which houses the Optimo IoT AL300 gateway, allowing you to
- read the Modbus registers exposed by the inverter through the sunSpec or protocol, or through generic Modbus (in which case you need to ask the manufacturer for the Modbus register table), for example
- generation of the PV plant
- instantaneous power of the PV plant
- string voltages
- string currents
- Write to the writable registers exposed by the inverter, so you can act on the plant (for example issuing the power modulation command requested by the CCI to carry out the PF2 function)
User interface and Web App
The collected data is sent to the Optimo IoT Web App, where you can monitor the plant’s parameters, apply power modulation and monitor your entire photovoltaic fleet from a single interface (multi-site dashboard).
You can also set up email or SMS alerts on threshold breaches, so maintenance staff are notified promptly of abnormal operating conditions.
Through the Optimo IoT cloud you can also automatically generate PDF reports to send weekly or monthly to the energy manager or to any company consultants who need the plant’s generation figures
Supply and service
- Hardware: Optimo IoT supplies the complete QE.OPT panel, wired and tested in our workshop. Alternatively you can buy just the AL300 gateway and fit it in your own electrical panels.
- Installing: Carried out by the customer.
- Commissioning: Handled by Optimo, remotely or on site as required.
- Cloud dashboards: built directly by Optimo IoT, with the option to edit and customise them yourself
