Optimo IoT Gas Monitoring kit

Optimo IoT Gas Monitoring kit: Are you looking for a simple, effective way to monitor your company’s natural gas consumption, so you can know in real time what your products really cost to make and what their impact is in terms of sustainability?

Imagine knowing exactly how much gas each individual boiler or production furnace is using, in real time. That lets you tie consumption to particular production runs and keep efficiency under control, both in energy and in cost.

Optimo IoT is the answer, with a complete monitoring solution for natural gas consumption, built on Internet of Things

The solution: architecture of the Optimo gas metering system

The heart of the system is our AssetLinker 300 gateway, which collects data from the flow meters fitted on the gas supply pipework.

These flow meters are non-fiscal gas meters that measure both instantaneous and cumulative flow in real time.

The data the gateway collects is sent to the Optimo IoT cloud interface, which is also available in a local and/or offline version. From there you can follow consumption in real time, analyse the historical trend and apportion the costs across production batches, giving you accurate energy accounting and control over production costs.

STEP1 Installing the Optimo gas metering system

The complete package

✔️ Turbine flow meter

Flow meters are volumetric natural gas flow meters for non-fiscal use. Optimo IoT’s engineering division selects them according to the pipe diameter and the actual flow through the plant. One flow meter is needed for each supply line you want to monitor. If you need a measurement valid for fiscal purposes, we can supply MID-certified volumetric gas flow meters.

✔️ Optimo IoT AssetLinker 300 gateway

The heart of the Optimo IoT system is the AL300 gateway. It collects the flow data measured by the flow meters, brings it all together and sends it to the Optimo IoT cloud Optimo IoT. Beyond the flow meter data, the AL300 gateway can bring in many other devices already on site that have Modbus RS485 or TCP/IP, OPC UA, PLC connectivity, as well as probes and sensors, wireless ones included.

✔️ Acquisition electrical panel

Optimo IoT’s engineering division has taken care of every safety consideration. They have designed monitoring panels that house the AL300 gateway along with everything else needed for the system to run safely, including ATEX barriers and whatever else is required to hand you a finished, ready-to-use system. Alternatively, we can supply the wiring diagrams your electrician needs to fit the components into your own electrical panels.

✔️ On-site installation

A complete service. Depending on what you need, Optimo IoT can also handle the installation of the system through our network of specialist, qualified pipefitters experienced in this kind of work. It is all carried out under the supervision of Optimo IoT’s engineering division, and we are happy to quote for it.

STEP2 Cloud dashboard: monitoring production consumption

Through our cloud platform you can monitor the system remotely and share the information with colleagues, consultants and anyone else involved in the process. And with the user widgets built by Optimo IoT you can create your own custom interface and run everything yourself.

Monitoring of total production consumption and calculation of specific EnPIs (energy performance indicators).

Monitoring of long-term operating trends for monthly and annual analysis. Consumption apportioned for internal energy accounting.

Real-time flow monitoring, with warnings of abnormal operation or notes for the maintenance team through the text widget.

The widgets let you build your own plant mimic diagrams and flow diagrams to visualise energy consumption.
